Late
night demo at the airport
|
Following
the restart of flights from Baginton, Coventry Animal Alliance called
a regional demo at the airport on the evening of the 31st of January
in case any calf transports came in over night.
Around 30 local activists from around the midlands including many
from Coventry, Wolverhampton and the Black Country attended this
demo and stayed at the airport until early into the morning of the
1st of February.
Activists in the midlands had watched as mass demos at Shoreham
and Brightlingsea had erupted into fury as massive crowds tried
to stop lorries carrying calves from entering the ports. We were
ready!
Although
no lorries came in, the demo was lively, the airport was invaded
and some damage was done to equipment involved in the calf flights.
People left tired but determined.
