Coventry City Council ban veal flights from Coventry Airport!

On Monday 7 November 94, just 2 days after veal flights started, Coventry City Council banned them due to concerns about airport security. They initially stopped the first scheduled flights on 3 November but in a shock U-turn just 2 days later, they allowed the first live exports from Coventry Airport.

100's of people protested outside Coventry Council House as councillors inside held a special meeting on Monday evening. During the meeting, councillors changed the airports policy so that live animals (other than race horses & breeding stock) would not be transported. Christopher Barrett Jolley of Phoenix Aviation lodged an immediate appeal and threatened Coventry City Council with an £8.5 million lawsuit, which he claimed was the amount he would lose!!
